On December 5th, the WPFC held our second Strategic Planning meeting to assist in streamlining our initiatives and to ensure cohesiveness and focus in achieving our efforts to increase the capacity for prescribed burning in Wisconsin. A big thank you to Paul Ohlrogge in guiding us through this journey.
During this session, we worked to identify issues and barriers in achieving our mission of increasing prescribed burn capacity. We then broke into working groups to action plan three of the top issues identified. Some of the issues discussed included developing an informed training program to build confidence and competency among practitioners and landowners, developing educational outreach materials to foster support, and how to ultimately increase the internal capacity of the WPFC board and membership. We look forward to building upon our lessons learned and putting our plans to action.
If you are interested in helping further our mission, please consider joining the WPFC as a valued member and participating in our one of illustrious committees!
