U.S. Department of Agriculture logoThe Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program provides financial assistance for prescribed burning, burn plan development and fire break installation in order to restore/manage habitats for declining wildlife species. NRCS reimburses the participant for practices completed. Reimbursements are either a flat rate payment or 75% of the actual cost not to exceed the allowed maximum. Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) participants may be required to burn their enrolled land for mid-contract management. $40/acre cost share is provided through the Farm Service Agency.
