We’ve had a very productive year developing new prescribed fire resources, and we are excited to finally make them publicly available on our website:
WPFC Vision Document
Our new Vision Document is an easy-to-read public resource demonstrating the importance of prescribed fire in Wisconsin. In a few pages, this booklet lays out the history and ecological benefits of prescribed fire, the challenges to getting more good fire on the ground, and the strategies required to address those challenges. It’s a short, digestible resource that contextualizes our mission and encourages public support for prescribed fire.
Fire Terms Glossary
Our Training Committee has compiled a glossary of prescribed fire terms, designed for practitioners of all backgrounds and skill levels in the Midwest. This extensive 20-page document brings together terminology from all fields of expertise, and each definition was very deliberately crafted. Read and print the Fire Terms Glossary here!
Updated Certification White Paper
Our Implementation and Standards Committee has been hard at work developing a program to train and certify Wisconsin burn bosses in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. All public information about this project is contained in our Certification White Paper, which we updated this month. Stay tuned for more burn boss certification news in 2025!
And, last but not least…
