Reasons for Membership
Your membership in the Fire Council helps us expand our community and create a unified, credible voice that represents the entire spectrum of prescribed burners in Wisconsin. Your participation helps us to advocate on behalf of prescribed fire throughout the state and to provide training, workshops, networking opportunities and educational resources to the prescribed fire community.
Our members are passionate about advancing prescribed fire in Wisconsin and elsewhere. Members represent government, for-profit and non-profit organizations; landowners, universities and more. We range widely in perspectives and experience levels, which makes for good discussion and dynamic events. We encourage everyone who shares our enthusiasm to join us in making prescribed fire in Wisconsin safer, more effective and more accepted for all practitioners.
Members are eligible to vote for and serve on the Board of Directors, and receive early notification and discounted registration for training, workshops, and conferences. Most memberships expire exactly one year after purchase, with opportunities for manual or automatic renewal.

Review our following membership options and choose one that’s right for you! All membership purchases count as donations to the WPFC and are fully tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
Student Members:
- are eligible to vote for and serve on the Board of Directors
- are eligible to serve on council committees
- receive early notification of training, workshops, conferences, etc.
- receive discounted registration for Fire Council events
Individual Members:
- are eligible to vote for and serve on the Board of Directors
- are eligible to serve on council committees
- receive early notification of training, workshops, conferences, etc.
- receive discounted registration for Fire Council events
Lifetime Members:
- are eligible to vote for and serve on the Board of Directors
- are eligible to serve on council committees
- receive early notification of training, workshops, conferences, etc.
- receive discounted registration for Fire Council events
Organization Members:
- receive an acknowledgement on the prescribedfire.org homepage
- can have their logo, a website link, and a descriptive paragraph posted on the prescribedfire.org website contractor page
- receive first access to interested clients
- receive member-only updates via email, including early notification of Fire Council events and trainings
- receive discounted registration on Fire Council events for up to 3 employees
- cannot vote or serve on the Board of Directors, but their employees or affiliated personnel are eligible for those privileges by joining as Individual members
Champion Organization Members:
- receive a prominent acknowledgement on the prescribedfire.org website and in the WPFC newsletter
- can have their logo, a website link, and a descriptive paragraph posted on the prescribedfire.org website contractor page
- receive first access to interested clients
- receive member-only updates via email, including early notification of Fire Council events and trainings
- receive discounted registrations on Fire Council events for up to 5 employees
- can designate one individual to be eligible to vote for and serve on the Board of Directors
