The Legacy Application Form for the Wisconsin Certified Burn Boss Program (CBBP) is now live! Visit the program landing page to learn more and submit an application.
The CBBP allows burn bosses to receive a recognized credential demonstrating their ability to lead prescribed burns of low to moderate complexity on Wisconsin lands. This new program, developed in collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, will grow prescribed fire leadership in Wisconsin and create new pathways to get more fire on the ground safely and effectively.
The Legacy Application is designed for burn bosses who already have 3+ years of experience and 30+ burns under their belt (including 10 burns in the role of burn boss). We encourage all who fit this description to submit an application.
The Standard Application– designed for newer burn bosses and those in training– will launch later this year. Those interested should consider registering for this September’s Wisconsin Burn Boss Academy, which will fulfill all training requirements for this application.
