TNC Burn on "Outdoor Wisconsin"

A recent episode of the Wisconsin Public TV show “Outdoor Wisconsin” includes a segment on a prescribed burn that The Nature Conservancy conducted at the Pickerel Lake Fen last April in southeast Wisconsin. The show does an excellent job of explaining why we burn and what it takes to undertake a safe burn. The film crew stayed with the burn crew all day during the burn capturing footage and interviews of our staff, volunteers and AmeriCorps crew members. They even returned more than a month later to document the rapid plant growth in the burned area (please ignore the invasive species shown in the close-ups!). Take a look at "Outdoor Wisconsin" here. The segment on prescribed burns starts at 8:20 minutes into the program.

Thank you, The Nature Conservancy, for allowing us to post this video.
